MyRepairUK Privacy Policy
Version prepared: 19 October 2026
Who we are and how to contact us
MyRepairUK is the trading name of MYREPAIRUK LIMITED, company number 15351375. We are the controller responsible for the customer information described in this notice.
Email: info@myrepairuk.co.uk
Address: 32 Sea View Road, Colwyn Bay, United Kingdom, LL29 8DG
Website: https://www.myrepairuk.co.uk
This notice explains how we use information when you contact us, book a repair, buy a product, trade in a device, use our website or visit our stores.
Information we use
Depending on the service, we use your name and contact details; booking and correspondence records; device identifiers, faults, diagnostic results, repair and warranty details; and purchase, payment-status, invoice and refund information. We also use feedback and any marketing preferences you provide.
For device trade-ins, we check identity and record the document number from your passport or driving licence so we can identify the seller if a device is subsequently reported stolen or a transaction is suspected to be fraudulent. Providing acceptable identification is a condition of our trade-in service; without it, we do not accept the device.
We collect information from you, your device where needed for the service, our booking and payment systems, website use and in-store CCTV. Payment providers supply transaction information so we can manage payments and refunds. Our website uses Google Analytics for usage information, Google Search Console for search-performance reporting and the Meta (Facebook) pixel for advertising and measurement. Depending on the configuration and your choices, tracking can involve online identifiers, device/browser information and website activity. Our CCTV captures video and audio. If you leave a voicemail, we receive the message and any contact information you provide.
Why we use it and our legal bases
| Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Provide a requested quote, arrange and complete repairs or purchases, process payments and provide contractual warranty support | Performance of our contract with you, or steps you request before entering a contract |
| Keep accounting and tax records and comply with applicable legal requirements | Legal obligation |
| Handle disputes, establish or defend legal claims and protect systems against misuse | Legitimate interests in protecting our business, customers and legal rights, where necessary and balanced against your rights; legal obligation where applicable |
| Seek genuine private feedback to understand and improve service quality | Legitimate interests in identifying and resolving service problems, subject to your reasonable expectations and rights |
| Send optional promotional emails or texts | Your consent for the relevant channel |
| Use optional Google Analytics tracking | Consent |
| Use the Meta pixel for advertising and measurement | Consent |
| Check identity and record document numbers for device trade-ins | Legitimate interests in verifying and identifying sellers, investigating potentially stolen devices and reducing fraud, subject to necessity and proportionality |
| Maintain website security and understand search performance, where personal information is involved | Legitimate interests in operating and improving a reliable website |
| Use CCTV to help prevent or investigate theft and in-store incidents | Legitimate interests in protecting people and property and investigating incidents, subject to necessity and proportionality |
Where legitimate interests apply, we must balance our purpose against your rights and reasonable expectations. You can contact us for more information about the relevant interests.
We need enough contact, device and transaction information to provide the requested service. Without it, we may be unable to quote, complete work, deliver goods or verify a warranty claim. Optional feedback and marketing choices are not conditions of receiving a repair.
Device access and recovery
Depending on the work requested, we may need to access your device. Passcodes are recorded on separately printed tickets without your name or contact details, are not entered into our booking system, and are destroyed after the device is handed back to you.
Only authorised staff have access to customer information and devices. Device contents are accessed only where agreed beforehand and for the agreed work. We do not use device contents for marketing. For data recovery, recovered information is extracted only to a device you provide. We do not save copies of your device contents on our own devices. Separate administrative records, such as repair notes and invoices, are retained as described below.
Where external specialist work is needed, we tell you before sending the device to the repair provider. The provider depends on the work required. Information and access supplied to that provider must be limited to what the work requires. We can explain the proposed arrangements before the referral.
Marketing and feedback
Booking a repair or receiving this notice does not subscribe you to marketing. Promotional emails and texts require your opt-in to the relevant channel. You can unsubscribe using the option in a message or by contacting us. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.
Necessary booking, payment and repair messages are separate from marketing. A response to a genuine private feedback request does not subscribe you to promotional messages. We keep limited suppression information where needed to respect an opt-out.

Providers can have different legal roles. Some process information on our instructions; payment providers also process information for their own legal, security and payment-service purposes. We do not make credit decisions ourselves. If you choose Klarna, we direct you to its service, and its eligibility, credit and payment arrangements are governed by the information it provides to you. Our own handling of any information supplied to or received from Klarna remains covered by our data-protection responsibilities.
We use DPD and Royal Mail for parts shipments. Under our current arrangements, customer information is not supplied to them for these shipments.
We may also disclose information where legally required or necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal rights, subject to the applicable data-protection rules.
International processing
Using international service providers can involve processing outside the UK, including in the United States. RepairDesk describes US and other international processing and contractual safeguards in its privacy policy. Namecheap publishes data-processing terms for its hosted services. Ring publishes terms covering its processing of camera recordings on customers’ behalf. Stripe also publishes information about its international transfer arrangements.
Restricted transfers require an applicable UK adequacy arrangement or appropriate safeguards, such as approved contractual protections, together with any assessments required by law. Contact info@myrepairuk.co.uk for information about the arrangements relevant to your information and how to obtain a copy of applicable safeguards.
Further provider information is available in RepairDesk’s privacy notice, Namecheap’s data-processing terms, Ring’s privacy notice, and Stripe’s privacy centre.
How long we keep information
We use the following periods and criteria. Information retained for one purpose is not automatically available for unrelated uses.
| Information | Retention |
|---|---|
| Lifetime-warranty records | The customer, purchase, repair and product/part details necessary to verify and handle claims are retained for as long as the warranty continues to apply. These necessary records have no fixed calendar deletion date while the warranty remains in force. |
| Other enquiries and repair correspondence | For as long as needed to deal with the enquiry or work and any relevant aftercare, dispute or legal claim. Information no longer needed for those purposes is deleted or anonymised. |
| Accounting records | Normally six years from the end of the company financial year to which they relate, or longer where applicable tax law requires it. |
| Complaints and disputes | While needed to investigate, resolve or establish, exercise or defend the relevant claim, taking account of applicable legal time limits. |
| Trade-in identity verification | Only for as long as necessary to verify and evidence the trade-in and address a relevant fraud concern, dispute or legal requirement. Full document numbers are reviewed separately from ordinary transaction records and are not retained merely because a different product has a lifetime warranty. |
| Passcode tickets | Destroyed after the device is handed back to you. |
| Recovered device contents | Extracted only to customer-provided devices; no copies saved to our devices. |
| Routine Ring video and audio | 30 days. |
| Downloaded incident clips | While needed for the investigation; police-related clips are retained for as long as needed by the police. |
| Voicemails | Deleted after being listened to. |
| Identifiable feedback | While needed to analyse and act on the feedback or resolve a related issue; identifying details are then removed unless another lawful retention reason applies. |
| Marketing preferences and evidence of consent | While needed to manage authorised marketing and demonstrate compliance. Minimum opt-out information is kept while needed to prevent unwanted contact. |
| Website logs, cookie records and analytics | Limited to the period needed for security, consent management or the relevant analysis, taking account of the configured expiry and retention settings. |
We review continued need, including warranty and incident records, and delete or anonymise information when it is no longer necessary. A relevant legal obligation or dispute may require particular records to be preserved longer.
CCTV in our stores
Our Ring cameras record both video and audio when motion is detected. Ring holds routine recordings for 30 days. They are not automatically downloaded to our computers. We view recordings only when necessary to investigate theft, assault, suspected fraud or another in-store incident, or to meet an applicable legal obligation or data-rights request.
We download relevant clips when necessary for an investigation. Downloaded police-related clips are kept on our computer for as long as needed by the police. Incident clips are deleted when no longer necessary for the investigation or another applicable legal requirement. Our intended external disclosure of incident recordings is to the police where lawful and necessary. Ring also processes recordings to provide the service. We assess lawful access requests or legally required disclosures separately, including protection of other people’s information.
Cookies and website choices
Our WordPress website uses Cookie Compliance for WordPress by Humanityco to present cookie choices and WP Consent API to communicate those choices to compatible plugins. We use Google Analytics to understand website use, Google Search Console to understand search performance, and the Meta pixel for advertising and measurement. The Meta pixel is separate from Google Analytics and can send information about website activity to Meta.
Optional analytics and advertising tracking are subject to your consent. You can manage or withdraw your cookie choices through the website’s cookie controls. Essential technologies needed to provide a service you request are treated separately. Refusing optional tracking does not subscribe or unsubscribe you from marketing emails.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you can ask for access to your personal information, correction, erasure, restriction of use or a portable copy of certain information. These rights are subject to legal conditions and exceptions.
You can object to direct marketing at any time. You can also object, for reasons relating to your circumstances, to processing based on legitimate interests.
Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Contact info@myrepairuk.co.uk or write to our address above. We may request proportionate information to verify your identity. We normally respond within one month, subject to the applicable legal rules, and explain any permitted extension or exception.
Complaints and updates
Please send a data-protection complaint to info@myrepairuk.co.uk, write to our address, or ask in store how to submit one. We will acknowledge complaints within 30 days, investigate appropriately and communicate the outcome without undue delay.
We update this notice when our practices change. If we intend to use information for a new purpose, we provide further information when required. Updating this notice does not create marketing consent.
